- Reeder – requires Google Reader. After Twitter, this is my most-used app.
- Instapaper – very good on the iPad. To make the most of it, setup an account with www.ifttt.com.
- How to Cook Everything – useful enough.
- Words HD Free – fun, syncs easily with Facebook.
- Find iPhone – I use this very often!
- Hulu Plus – costs money, but better than Netflix.
- Skype – useful.
- Downcast – great for streaming podcasts.
- Draw with Friends – you know its fun.
- Dropbox – enough said.
- Yelp – my favorite reviewing website.
- Temple Run – I’ll admit it, I am addicted.
- Mint.com – great for tracking spending.
- Kindle – I’ve bought more than 50 books.
- Spotify – I like music again because of this.
- OnLiveDesktop – a complete Windows desktop suite. For free.
- WordPress – well designed UI for WordPress blogs.
- JotNot – scanner app, works amazingly well.
- Cleartune – tune in instrument accurately and quickly.
- GoodReader – access Google Docs files and manage them on your iPad.
- Evernote – great for everything from short notes to essay brainstorming (and essays)
- Pages, Numbers, Keynote – I’m continually amazed how well these are designed.
- iAnnotate PDF – import, export and manage PDF files.
- WolframAlpha – try it for everything from checking camps to comparing phylogenetic relationships among species.
- Twitter – not bad for a proprietary app.
- Mario Cooks – Mario Batali’s really nice cooking app.
- Zite – I’m surprised by how great the content this app curates is.
- Khan Academy – rich content that’s to-the-point and on-access.
- The Economist – favorite news source, requires subscription
- The NY Times – second favorite news source, requires subscription
- Flixster – awesome for finding out movie times
- GymGoal+ – put together and track weight lifting exercises.
- Instagram – easy to use, so you will use it a lot.
- Facebook – I use this app more than I care to admit.
- eWallet – keep track of passwords, works well and good UI
- TWC – the weather channel app, works well
- Sleep Cycle – tracking your sleep can be addictive.
- Clear – my favorite to-do list app, and I’ve tried a lot!
- Action Movie – try it at least once – fun mash-up movies you make in a minute.
- Photosynth – takes panoramic photos, great UI
